Colin Farrell shines a light on rare neurological disorder with new podcast
The ‘After Yang’ actor has teamed up with artist Alexandra Grant for a new podcast series that will explore the world of Angelman syndrome.
The first episode of "In Search of the Angelman" features interviews with families affected by the condition, as well as experts who are working to find a cure.
Farrell, who is a father of two children with Angelman syndrome, said he hopes the podcast will help to raise awareness of the condition and inspire others to get involved in the fight to find a cure.
"Angelman syndrome is a rare and complex neurological disorder that affects about 1 in 15,000 children," Farrell said. "It can cause a range of symptoms, including developmental delays, speech impairments, and seizures. There is currently no cure for Angelman syndrome, but there are a number of therapies that can help to improve the quality of life for people with the condition."
Farrell said he was inspired to start the podcast after meeting Grant, who is an artist and the founder of the Alexandra Grant x Aesop Sensory Garden in Los Angeles. Grant's garden is designed to be a safe and welcoming space for people with Angelman syndrome and their families.
"Alexandra's work with Angelman syndrome is truly inspiring," Farrell said. "She has created a space where people with the condition can feel safe and accepted. I'm honored to be able to work with her on this podcast and to help raise awareness of Angelman syndrome."
The first episode of "In Search of the Angelman" is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major podcast platforms.
