Successful live fire demo sparks interest in system that could revolutionize artillery

Israel's Elbit Systems sees opportunity to capitalize on increased demand for artillery systems in Europe

Rheinmetall and Elbit Systems have successfully demonstrated their new automated 155mm L52 wheeled self-propelled howitzer in a live fire demonstration.

The PULS (Precision and Universal Launching System for Artillery) artillery system, which is jointly produced by Elbit Systems and KNDS (KMW + Nexter Defense Systems), impressed observers with its accuracy and efficiency.

The system is designed to fire a variety of munitions, including guided projectiles, and can be operated with a crew of just three. It is also highly mobile, thanks to its wheeled chassis.

The successful demonstration of the PULS system is likely to spark interest from potential customers around the world, including in Europe. Israel has already requested 10,000 120-millimeter Rheinmetall precision rounds to replenish ammunition used in the Gaza conflict.

Rheinmetall's CEO, Armin Papperger, has called for a European version of Israel's Iron Dome air defense system. He argues that such a system would be necessary to protect Europe from the growing threat of missile attacks.

The successful demonstration of the PULS system and the growing demand for artillery systems in Europe could provide a significant boost to Elbit Systems.
