Drake Maye Quarterback

The Drake Maye Era has Arrived in Foxborough, Massachusetts

New England Patriots Select North Carolina Quarterback with No. 13 Pick

Maye Poised to Make an Immediate Impact for Patriots as Quarterback of the Future

After months of speculation, the New England Patriots have made their decision: North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is the future of the franchise. The Patriots selected Maye with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, making him the first quarterback taken by the Patriots in the first round since 1993.

Maye, who is 20 years old, is considered one of the most talented quarterback prospects in recent memory. He possesses an ideal combination of size, athleticism, and arm strength. Many NFL scouts believe Maye has the potential to be a franchise-changing player.

Maye is a pro-ready quarterback who is expected to start for the Patriots in Week 1. He will be tasked with replacing Mac Jones, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason. Maye is confident that he is ready for the challenge of being the quarterback of the Patriots.

"I'm excited to be here in New England," Maye said at a press conference on Thursday. "I'm ready to work hard and prove that I can be the quarterback of this team."

Maye is already being compared to some of the greatest quarterbacks in Patriots history, including Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe. However, Maye is focused on being himself and not being the next Brady or Bledsoe.

"I'm not trying to be the next Tom Brady or Mac Jones," Maye said. "I'm just trying to be the best Drake Maye I can be."

Maye comes from a family of athletes. His father, Mark, played quarterback at North Carolina from 1987-1990. His mother, Amy, played basketball at North Carolina from 1987-1991. His older sister, Cameron, played volleyball at North Carolina from 2018-2022. His older brother, Luke, was a quarterback at North Carolina from 2020-2022.
